Feminine Leadership Potholes 2

black-professional-woman

In feminine leadership potholes 1, we addressed the 4 potholes below.

1. Aggressiveness – It is not good for any leader. Be it male or female.

2. Approachability – your team is looking for a leader who is open and approachable.

3. Lack of Empowerment –Do not be wary to empower your team. Not empowering them is the same as disempowering yourself.

4. Avoiding team thinking and brainstorming – It is not benefiting you to think all by yourself. Embrace the spirit of group think.

Feminine Leadership Potholes 1

I think the dark ages of discrimination are over. Bygones are bygones and to a certain extent, I believe those painful experiences are behind us. It is evident that women continually find themselves in positions of influence. These positions come with great responsibilities. Responsibilities always come with great demands for quality leadership competencies.

Challenges facing Women in Leadership

african-american-business-woman-by-industrial-building

Research shows that the phrase leader in the workplace, church or any organization is associated with the image of a man and not a woman. Regardless of all advances in women’s and all legislative support for gender equality, cultural stereotypes are still very hard to shake off.

Women Leaders of the Bible

dv1535077

For most of the history of the church, women have been denied the privilege of serving as leaders; however, several women are mentioned in the Bible who were involved in leadership.  Although these women are mentioned briefly, they definitely serve as valid scriptural precedents. The precedents which call into question the notion that says church leaders can only be males. These women, whom the scriptures are alluding to, served in the five fold ministries.

You are fearfully and wonderfully made

beautiful_03

Did you know that the very biological makeup of your body carries the story of salvation? Your body is more than just a miracle of science. It’s a miracle of Elohim. It is a miracle of I AM (Exodus 3:14). You are a miracle of the King of Glory, the Lord of Hosts, the Creator of all things. God has personally designed and crafted everything on you and in you. No artist presents a work that he has not signed; similarly, God has deposited into your DNA His signature, which is the story of His love for you – the story of salvation. You were a miracle to God before your father and mother ever even met.

Challenging thoughts on Prayerlessness

praying_women_black

Ben Jennings, The Arena of Prayer: ‘Prayerlessness is an insult to God. Every prayerless day is a statement by a helpless individual. “I do not need God today.” Failing to pray reflects idolatry-a trust in substitutes for God. We rely on our money instead of God’s provision. We rest on our own flawed thinking rather than on God’s perfect wisdom. We take charge of our lives rather than trusting God. Prayerlessness short-circuits the working of God. Neglecting prayer, therefore, is not a weakness; it is a sinful choice.’

Everyone but you…

black-woman-screaming

Have you ever been at place where you feel that everyone is blessed but you?  Have you harassed God for things like cars, jobs, a house or husband in prayer because you felt stuck in a rut? Have you been tempted to believe, that it was of no use to seek for them or maybe God doesn’t love you like He loves Basetsana Kumalo?

The women in the Bible: the daughters of Zelophehad

A while ago, I was asked by the Rector of our church to facilitate a workshop for the Young Women’s Fellowship of St Monnica on ‘WOMEN IN THE BIBLE’. As I prepared and meditated on the different female characters in both the Old and the New Testament, I was struck by the similarities of their struggles and challenges in those olden days, and ours today.

Women in the Bible: A woman caught in adultery

sadblackwoman

May I take this opportunity to challenge your thoughts on the story of the woman caught in the act of adultery as it is related in John 8: 1-11. As I read through these verses and reflected on each one of them, imagining myself as part of the crowd that gathered around to listen to Jesus’ teachings, I was surprised by the number of emotions I experienced- ranging from anger right through to elation! I will take you through this scripture and share my thoughts and emotions with you.
